Singapore — air taxis & vertiports in depth
Snapshot: August 2026 · open sources (CAAS, Skyports, EDB, evtol.travel)
Singapore aims to be Southeast Asia's first commercial eVTOL hub. The regulation and infrastructure are ahead of the aircraft: it published the world's first vertiport standards and built a working prototype, and is now waiting on operator certification and viable aircraft — realistically a 2026–2027 launch.

Projects & plans
BuiltVertiport network
Plan Skyports built a working prototype vertiport at Marina Bay and an integrated terminal concept at Changi. Target network of 4–6 sites: Marina Bay, Changi, Sentosa and a CBD rooftop. CAAS TR-91 design standards already published.
ASEAN gatewayCross-border routes
Plan Planned landing pads in Batam (Indonesia) and Johor Bahru (Malaysia) for high-value point-to-point travel. Changi↔Marina Bay ~20 km = a 7–10 min hop vs 25–60 min by road/MRT — the strongest launch use case.
Seletar MRO & training
Plan EDB MOUs (Skyports, Volocopter) for Seletar Aerospace Park: vertiport terminal, hangarage, eVTOL manufacturing/MRO, R&D and pilot-training facilities — a full support ecosystem, not just landing pads.
Target operators
Plan Volocopter (post-Diamond Aircraft restart) flew the first crewed eVTOL in Asia over Marina Bay; Joby signals Singapore as an APAC follow-on after Dubai. Launch depends on operator survival and certification.
Why it matters for your project
Singapore has the regulation, infrastructure and gateway geography but no domestic aircraft OEM — it imports hardware. That is the precise gap a China-donor + local-assembly model fills, with Seletar as the MRO/training anchor and Batam/Johor as the scale-out into the corridor.
