Singapore — low-altitude economy in depth
Snapshot: August 2026 · open sources (CAAS, MPA, Skyports, EDB, company disclosures)
Singapore's edge is not manufacturing scale but being the region's most advanced regulatory and operational testbed. It published the world's first vertiport design standards (CAAS TR-91, 2023), runs live maritime drone operations in the world's busiest port, and is positioning as Southeast Asia's first commercial eVTOL hub — with cross-border routes to Indonesia and Malaysia. For the corridor, it is the natural gateway into ASEAN.
Maritime drones — already operational
Live since Sept 2025MPA waterway monitoring
Status Skyports runs routine BVLOS surveillance of Singapore's waterways for the Maritime & Port Authority: DJI Dock 2 "drone-in-a-box" at 3 waterfront sites, piloted from one central operations centre inside MPA.
Faster aerial insight than in-person patrols; loudspeaker-equipped drones alert MPA enforcement to safety/environmental incidents in real time.
World-firstShore-to-ship delivery
Status Daily BVLOS ship-to-shore deliveries at anchorages: spares, medical supplies, bunker/oil samples and Cash-to-Master. First-ever drone delivery to a bunker tanker (MT Diligence) completed 2025 with TFG Marine, CBS Ventures and MPA.
A2Z winch system delivers up to 5 kg to ships without deck landing. Potential to cut logistics cost up to 90% and remove crew-boat safety risk. Partners: ST Engineering, Sumitomo, Wilhelmsen, Thome.

Air taxis (UAM) — the 2026–27 window
Vertiport network
Plan Skyports built a working prototype vertiport at Marina Bay and an integrated terminal concept at Changi. Target network of 4–6 sites: Marina Bay, Changi, Sentosa, a CBD rooftop.
CAAS states readiness for commercial eVTOL from 2026, gated on operator certification, not infrastructure. TR-91 vertiport standards already published.
Cross-border routes
Plan Planned landing pads in Batam (Indonesia) and Johor Bahru (Malaysia) for high-value point-to-point travel. Changi↔Marina Bay ~20 km = a 7–10 min eVTOL hop vs 25–60 min by road/MRT.
Small geography (50 km E–W) + high willingness-to-pay make airport↔CBD and cross-border ASEAN routes the most viable launch cases. Target operators: Volocopter (post-Diamond), Joby (APAC).
Seletar MRO & training
Plan EDB MOUs (Skyports, Volocopter) for Seletar Aerospace Park: vertiport terminal, hangarage, eVTOL manufacturing/MRO, R&D and pilot-training facilities.
Maritime Drone Estate is the sandbox; launch showcased 11 players (Airbus, ST Engineering, Garuda Robotics, F-drones, Wilhelmsen, thyssenkrupp, Volocopter and others).

Achievements & problems
- Achieved — world's first vertiport design standards (TR-91); live, routine maritime BVLOS operations in the world's busiest port; first bunker-tanker drone delivery.
- Achieved — a mature multi-agency ecosystem (CAAS, MPA, EDB) and international operators already on the ground.
- Problem — no domestic eVTOL/drone OEM at scale: Singapore imports airframes (opportunity for corridor supply).
- Problem — passenger eVTOL launch depends on operator survival (Volocopter's post-acquisition restart, Joby's APAC timing) — realistically 2026–2027.
- Problem — cross-border routes need Indonesian & Malaysian regulatory alignment; airspace is tight and dense.
Why this matters for your project
Singapore is the corridor's ready-made ASEAN gateway: proven regulation, live operations and cross-border pads to Batam & Johor — but dependent on imported hardware. That gap is precisely where a China-donor + local-assembly model plugs in.
- Supply the hardware gap: corridor-sourced drones/eVTOL components and assembly feeding Singapore's operators and vertiport network.
- Use Singapore as the certification & testbed anchor, then scale into Batam/Johor and the wider ASEAN corridor.
- Localization services: MRO, pilot training (Seletar model), UTM software and maritime-logistics operations — recurring revenue near the point of use.
- iBridgetrue verifies partners across jurisdictions — essential where China-sourced hardware meets Western-standard certification.
